Latex Society

Latex Society

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

I think it speaks for itself.

"

More and more it seems I am suffocating

from societies substance not letting me speak,

so I gasp for air in attempts to get the words out

but unfortunately they aren’t politically correct.

Now I know we celebrate Independence Day

so I scratch my head while recalling why

when all the colorful words I try to express

are scratched out in place of charcoal gray.

If words I think don’t please everybody

then I should treat my thoughts like nothing,

well I guess my mind should remain empty

since the world is made up of different kinds.

As the heat from the so called powers that be

grows hotter and hotter over the American way

it seems to get more impossible to breathe

under the cover of this latex society.

I can hear Archie Bunker yelling, "Edithe, stifle yourself!" It's been happening for awhile and progressing. People now want the benefits of friends and lovers with no emotional connections. We will pick a president based on their color or gender but not what they will do for our nation.

Everything has become so plastic. If you don't fit the mold you are tossed aside like last week's garbage.
You bring up some great points here and I enjoyed your excellent piece of writing here!

Yep, it's filled with the synthetic all right that's spun straight out of plastic card alley....cover us over with a sheet of film and then put it in the heating machine to seal all the loose edges so we can't voice an opinion, or be who we really want to be.....censor our speech so that freedom of speech is stifled, tell us where we can go to to do this, and where not to go to do that!
It is sickening as I think of all the sacrifices made by our forefathers to give us the benefits of a linen society!
Well done Dale!!!

latex society.. i like that. Excellent metaphor. This is packed with aggression and power, and so true. You definately have something to say and you have the voice to demand attention.

it seems to get more impossible to breathe

under the cover of this latex society.

awesome words my friend!

I LOVE it! :) it's so true and your words are wonderful. I agree that the pressure to "shut up" in this world is overwhelming to those of us who have so much to say. favoriting this one!

Oh Dale, I am so glad you submitted this one, I really did enjoy it the first time I read it and still do. I just loved the way you used latex as a metaphor, for the suffocating world we live in today.

Everything we do and say being censored by people I sometimes think doesn't know any better. People whom can't even rule their own lives but then try to rule a colourful nation such as ourselves, Fitting that you should submit this piece, 'cause I think the very core of this piece speaks of such a greater truth

A truth so many of us choose to ignore for the sake of being left in peace

The elites of this country will always try to hide the bad to prevent a panic. It's a fact of life.

And I'm going to be honest, when I saw the title of the poemand the picture that went with itI thought it would be something about condoms. Don't ask me why.

well, since I'm very quiet and not outspoken at all .....lol.....I gave up trying to please everyone a long time ago. It seems we ignore the problems here and worry more about what Paris is doing today. I agree completely with this piece - as for the PC, well, I just pretty much ignore the concept lol.

*hugs*

Ha! Damn this was good...and I wholeheartedly agree with you. This country covers up all the bad with a tiny band-aid...it DOESN'T fix anything. Great write, Dale! :)

Yeah, we don't even know what we're celebrating anymore half the time.
And it's true that people worry so much about being PC that they can't even express themselves honestly.
great write.

Oh wow. I almost felt like I was suffocating reading this. I'm always getting little red notes on my English essays saying my opinion is "inappropriate and not politically correct". It's such... pardon my French, bullshit. Absolute bullshit. This poem exposes it. Great write, mi amigo.
