Seasons Of Life

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

 Winter's chill begins to fade

and the snow starts to melt

under the sun's peering haze,

but some of the damage remains.

Soon the blooms of spring

bring new life to dying roots.

Now as the beauty of nature

spreads out in all its wonder

joy seeps in without you even knowing.

Things begin to really heat up

under the bright summer sun

leaving almost all effects

of winter far behind.

Every thing gets hotter and hotter

showing a golden tan on your heart.

Then the winds of change

brings the fall rain and cool down the days.

The falling of the leaves is somewhat beautiful

but give an uneasy feeling... but why?

You allow Mother Nature to take it's coarse

and accept all that it brings

until you feel that first winter's chill

that brings ice to your veins.

Ummmm....I live in Florida, so I barely see a "distinct" seasonal change to the degree you write of...but I have lived where there is such things, and my memories serve me well. Still, Winter's chill does spread its wings even over the places that I reside, and the wind blows oh so cold! It wears on me, and when there is no one two warm up with, Winter's barren hand leaves an icey sting. I can appreciate the truth of your write, and the necessity of the seasonal changes, but I still long to bask in the joys of Spring every year. :)

I like the creativity in this one. The metaphor of seasons for the stages of life is a strong one. Superb!

I like the part "Joy seeps in with out you knowing it" spring is like that you feel it in the air before it is really here I live in Calif here we do not see the seasons change to much, but I grew up in SDak. so i miss all the seasons So i can relate to all of your poem. It is a great read , cant wait to read more of your stuff

There is nothing more that i want than Spring. and i dont mean this s**t that i've got outside my window now, lol. I'm talking about the REAL deal. the i feel alive and the earth is new and everything can start again. :)

"under the sun's peering haze,

but some of the damage remains."

that's a great slant line, to begin with, and a great line - some of the damage remains??? that throws the profundity of this poem onto a whole new level :)

"joy seeps in without you even knowing."
this is all i can think about and all that i want. ::sigh::

"a golden tan on your heart."

hahah i like that, especially because i'm so pale and i hardly ever get a tan anywhere else LOL

"allow Mother Nature to take it's coarse" = course

"until you feel that first winter's chill

that brings ice to your veins."

you made winter like some evil being... but.. i'm not gonna lie, lol.. it kinda is!!

fantastic piece. if you couldn't tell by my extensive review, i really enjoyed it. it made me think, and care enough to blab on and say something more than "good poem" :P

hugs
