Time

Time

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

just some thoughts in my head

"

They say time heals all wounds

yet day after day people

are tormented by past mistakes.

the effects causing lingering reactions

bringing self destruction

and often bitter loneliness.

They say time is of the essence

but when all we do is run around

taking care of life’s problems

we forget what’s important

so often losing them and in turn

ourselves in the process.

They say time is on our side

and somehow I can’t agree

for all time does is take

those we love away from us

and break us down little by little

as our bodies age.

Then when I hear time is fleeting

I can’t believe my ears

because the only thing I can see

is time is the only thing that last forever

so just enjoy the here and now

and let time do its thing.

very well written and great thoughts... they do say that -- time heals all - i still am trying to figure out who this mysterious 'they' are... ha
it takes one day at a time for the healing to happen - we need to take time for ourselves in the busy hub-bub of society...

thanks for this

That is so true and you've put it - and the rest of your piece, in such a finely constructed way. You have a gift with words, you express them poetrically and yet, without artificial shaping. Everything flows the message to the reader.

Thank you for sharing.

time does a lot of things, it may heal, it may bring anger, it may give grace. All I know is to take each day as it comes, say good morning sun, and live each day as my last. Very lovely write. Keep up the good work.

Like it, I do! Very, very much! Yes, so many people waste so much precious time with bitterness eating up their insides, that they fail to enjoy the sweetness of life. And yes, sometimes we can get so wrapped up in the rat race of society, that we lose track of time, rather than slow down and enjoy our lives. And yes, once again, time does take those we love away from us, adding years to our bodies, but also adding wisdom into our minds . . . if we let it. And finally, I completely agree . . . time isn't fleeting, it lasts forever.

It's just how we use it, that counts.

You capture this concept beautifully! Adding it to my favorites.

Thank you.

Hmm...very intriguing thoughts.

Time is such a strange and mysterious subject isn't it?

Personally, I'm a person that believes that time is essential for the healing process be it emotional or physical...but somehow I feel that we never truly heal completely.

Great poem.

The sad truths in here are painful to recognize, hence the shallow cliche's that we all want to believe. I thought the first verse to be especially true. It goes along with that same crap they tell you about how bad things make you stronger....yeah right!
I love the deep thoughts in here.

These are thoughts that I have often, myself. Time is an illusion ... there's always so much of it, but never enough. I wrote a poem about time somewhere on my page. I think it's called Fleeting Moments or something like that.

I like this piece because it makes me think and feel and poems like that are the best kind!

Time is never enough, yet sometimes so painfully long. I love the depth, the thought that you've given to such a profound concept as time. Then I wonder if we were to never label time, would we even know it exists? Or, is time just another human characteristic to remind us to embrace our gift of life... "our time on earth".

Hmm, I like your thoughts. I could see sharing a pint and chatting about this over a warm, summer evening.

Well done.

This is a great piece. Time is elusive and slippery and passes by so quickly, yet like you said, lasts forever. We have to enjoy each moment, live in each moment, and not let the passage of time leave us behind. I really like this poem. It is wonderful!

In a way you have stopped time in its tracks. Not able to deceitfully lie to us that tomorrow will be a better day. Today is all we really have and what we will make of it. Good write!
