There You Were

There You Were

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

There you were all this time

Standing beneath the shadows

Taking darkness to bring you to light.

There you were like a sweet sunrise

Bringing rays of new born hope

To midnights never ending loneliness.

There you were with angelic eyes

Keeping me insight until I was harmed

Now returning as if from heaven.

There you were now here you are

Shattering the pain around my heart.

There you were till the time was right

Just please say you’ll stay in my life.

you've reclaimed your romantic soul with this one - a wonderfully penned heartfelt piece - fav lines:

"There you were like a sweet sunrise
Bringing rays of new born hope
To midnights never ending loneliness.
There you were with angelic eyes
Keeping me insight until I was harmed
Now returning as if from heaven."

I'm out of words that would do justice to this piece - in my favs!

How could anyone say no to those words? They would have to have a heart of stone. What a meaningful poem about someone standing by you, even when it was painful....

....I so very much like your lines #2 and #6, which reflect their solitude and sadness while apart.
This is a happy, homecoming poem as well as your words describe throughout. Excellent and a favorite for sure! Love it.

This poem is quite romantic, in my opinion. I've always admired the "stay in my life" concept in poetry... not sure why, but it's always an interesting theme. The structure seems pretty neat, so good job with that. :) I definitely like the figurative language you presented in almost each stanza. Very well-done.

What a wonderful tribute to those friends who are there to support us when we need them. I have quite a few in my life like that and they are such a healing comfort to me...I can only hope that I am the same to them. Great job here Dale :)
