Peaches And Cream (Not What It Seems)

Peaches And Cream (Not What It Seems)

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

In a world where peaches and cream

Is the only thing served on a platter

Malnutrition is king

And starvation its jester.

All the meat and potatoes are devoured

By those already displaying from greasy fingers.

By order of the executive chef

All vegetables are to be pronounced dead

And all soups are to be discontinued

In order to make room for the wine,

More specifically a port

So the people can feel it is a sweet privilege to die.

dear Dale... I love delicious food... and I yearn for yesterday... when hot buttered corn on the Cob
was in style... and a bowl of fresh tomatoes for desert. Homemade Peach Ice cream was my dream.
Every Mother made home baked bread and pie dough was flaky with cherries inside. We had gardens that grew along with the Kids.... and hung our clothes on a Line. I believe in Yesterday. truly, Pat

I believe you are making me hungry :)
Oh how i agree on both counts in and in between the lines. I am reminded of the fact that we ingest the product originally designed for the fattening of cattle in corn sweetener dosed in myriad forms in our daily diets masking the bitterness of our slow demise. Our collective misdirection is always more palatable when glazed with a little sweetness:) Very clever write good sir I enjoyed

How right you are. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
I love this poem!!!! seriously a great write! these are not easy to write and I am guessing without some experience and knowledge of current affairs not many will understand, unless I am way off base I am reading a political piece if not oops my bad. I love it all the same.

Why thank you so very much.
This seems to have a more elusive meaning than I'm used to, coming from you! I had to read it twice & I'm still not sure if I'm catching every aspect of your message. On one hand, I was drawn to the idea that some writers only deliver fluff (that would be me, in my silly fun rhyming ditties), and then there are the ones who delve more deeply into life issues (often thinking much more deeply than I ever do). On the other hand, I also felt a bit of a political slant, but I could not fit that with the last 3 lines, which are still a bit mystifying to me! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

First off, your poetry is not fluff. Writing from the heart is not fluff and you write from the hea.. read more
