The Devil Likes To Play

The Devil Likes To Play

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

reposting some lyrics I wrote

That Child’s smile

Crushed on concrete

Adolescent life flowing

From mouth to gutter

Once youthful dreams

Now shattered pieces

When you look to the sky

Asking just why

Remember…

The Devil likes to play

In his own way

Feeding on hate

Tainting weak souls

To make his own

Pitchfork schemes

To kill spirits being

Cause the devil likes

To play his games too

A bedtime story

Of innocence stolen

Like candy from a baby

All in the name of

A father’s twisted pride

Locking her up inside

Looking for answers

A mother kneels to pray

Forgetting…

The devil likes to play

With a twist of cane

Tempting lost fate

Grabbing pure souls

To make his own

Letting terror reign

In a perfect world

Where the devil decides

To play his games too

Searching for reasons

For the worlds pain

Bow your head and pray

To see the devil’s playground

The Devil likes to play

In his own way

Feeding on hate

Tainting weak souls

To make his own

Pitchfork schemes

To kill spirits being

Cause the devil likes

To play his games too

Rhythmic and haunting a sad reminder of how evil preys on the weak and innocent of this world. I am so glad you re-posted this there is truly music in your soul even when the tune touches on a truly sad chord there is a sense of hope and redemption in your words.

Great piece you know I could so see this as a Metallica song or one of the other great rock bands of our time. I like this you did an awesome job.

Wow.. not bad at all.. this is really good... lyrics remind me of heavy rock or metal.. has that dark aura to it.. alot of reality in it as well.. certainly plays well with today's issues so it's a song that could relate to many listeners.. I'm curious to know the style of music the beat would be to.. keep it up!!! =)

Love it my friend. You do write beautiful lyrics my friends. I agree with Dani, you should write more lyrics. However if you're like me. The lyrics come when they want and I better have a pen ready. I love your style. Keep on writing my friend and rocking of course.

This is really quite excellent Dale. So often we 'look to the sky' for answers...
particularly when a child is injured or ill. You captured my attention
from the very beginning, and I find the piece so damn thought-provoking and
intense...yes. Definitely intense. Although lyrics, format is appealing...bold
contrasted with light.. But the passion is felt as we search for reasons...
why?
