Deep Inside

 

I can always find myself

When I’m lost in thought,

For when my mind wanders

Is when I discover

The wonders of my imagination

And the insight it sees

Hiding behind insight and instinct.

When silence unlocks the gate

I let my thoughts run wild

Until I have tamed

The questions just out of reach,

Then and there is when

I find a “peace” of mind

Within my soul sweet soul.

In my younger days, my idle mind would often jump to whatever exciting thing was on tap in my life, or what was coming up. Anticipation is good, but not when it prevents us from fully absorbing what's right in front of us, in the moment. Is too easy to keep thoughts in check, not daring to explore outside one's own wee corner of world, society and even more,mind. IMagination wants to fly, needs to else will lose full use of heart and urge. Discovery results in so much: open doors, peeps around corners, a half or quarter beckoning into.. mystery. 'Peace' of mind could be construed as being answers to and questions of being linked together to create a path into.. who knows where! Thought should run wild..

i am reminded of Richard Wilbur's "Mind"---
we will never hurt ourselves by letting our minds wander...thinking outside the box, or the cave as in his case...
many questions will always be out of reach...but just striving to answer some of them can break new grounds of thought.
