Comedy Or Tragedy

Comedy Or Tragedy

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

A rant about the stupid media attention stars get

"

 Starving for perfection

To claim that perfect role

Or sell out the show

And your stomach cries out

Entertainment or death!

Influential youth mimics

Thinking trends are cool.

Now the girls look like

Stick figures I drew

When I was their age.

Can’t you see that bone ain’t sexy,

Chriss Angel please bring Marilyn back to life!!”

Treating your kids

Like Raggedy Ann and Andy

Probably even throw’em

In a toy box at night.

Slung under your arm

Like the latest fashion accessory.

Seat belts are optional

As long as the photographers follow,

Did you forget you gave them names?

Money flows from

Hard working fans that adore

And all you can spend it on is blow.

Then you whine and blame the fame

On the stress of the spotlight,

Then step away and get a real job.

When will you get it through

Your eccentric skull

That doing lines is not

            THE GLAMOROUS LIFE

But a one way ticket to death.

Useless wars tread on

Homeless wander the streets

Children dying over a dollar

And what is THE HEADLINE for today

A dumb blonde can’t find her panties.

Who gives a f**k?

Focus people… for God’s sake

We elected an idiot President*

Cause we’re to wrapped up

In this electric circus to understand... HUMANITY, remember  that?

Sometimes I just have to laugh

Although in reality there’s nothing funny about it!!

I will jump on the bandwagon here with you! Your expressions and feeling show quite nicely through your precisional piece here. I agree with all points on board. It wasn't too hard for the terrorists to train in the US when we all let our guard down and were watching some stupid TV show. It used to be where people got involved in their community. Now it's seeing who's on the front page at the grocery store check out. Excellent points and writing here. When is everyone going to wake up? Your writing begs for it. Good stuff here!

This is one of your best works. You showed all aspects of the apathy this world feels today. Or is it hiding from things that noone has an answer to. Marilyn Monroe, very "cho volio" (my silly way to say sexy), but were there no scandals? The media was different then, I don't think that they wanted to do that kind of reporting.
I have my own ideas about Brittany and the media and childhood stars that had careers chosen for them by their parents, but one thing is for sure, the medias reporting on all things "Hollywood" is just as full of facts as their reporting on our Government and all that has gone on there. My daughter wants to switch her major to journalism next semester and I don't know that it's such a noble proffession anymore. I am not going to steer her away from it, but I am going to stress how hard it is going to be to be successful and still keep her integrity.
Wow this is such a great thought provoking piece! (i'm stopping now because I could go on and on and on! LOL)

I totally agree with all these points made in this write. Marilyn was a great celebrity, far better than the ones today - she would knock them all on their asses.

Great Write!

Ha - "Comedy or Tragedy" that my friend, is the million dollar question. Humanity, a word lost a long time ago yet we all continue to dwell through this world thinking that all is alright or is going to be.

Brilliantly thought provoking piece Dale, just the way I love them. I really liked the way you seem to blend all the important issues, (one tend to overlook) in a wonderful piece. Your words seemed to flow perfectly, putting a huge emphasis on the problem at hand.

thanks a million for sharing! I really enjoyed reading it!

This is a great rant! Nothing irks me more than all the crap on the news these days about the celebs - I think Paris Hilton and her jail time was on there for weeks on end - I know that there are way more important things going on around the world. I can't fathom people's fascination with these people...so far removed from any reality and the author of their own problems.

I love Marilyn Monroe and true she was a better symbol than what we have now, although she had her own scandals I guess....I think you are talking about Britney Spears and I have to tell you...I am sooo sick of hearing about her...I don't give a fat rat's a*s, LOL!!! What you said about George W., the war, homeless...all sadly true...but that doesn't sell and the media knows it...so do you!!! Great vent, my friend. Kudos :)

This is wonderful, Dale. Perhaps the strongest aspect lies in the passion of the writer, for to
write and elaborate on these issues one must have strength of character, along with compassion and empathy for the people. Much of our youth is in grave trouble because they develop a distorted perspective of what is really important in life, and perhaps some of the problem exists from too
much pressure at home, feeling the need to 'always measure up' rather than being loved and
appreciated for who they are and what they as individuals have to offer. They idealize the wrong
people. I also respect your stressing the importance of human beings caring for each other...the
homeless...war among nations, etc. The use of bold print is an excellent tool for emphasis as is
sarcasm...so appropriate a means of determining theme. Conclusion is spot on. This piece will be
one among those in my general library....reading it occasionally may keep 'me' on track.
