I Saw A Red Moon Rising

I Saw A Red Moon Rising

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

I saw a red moon rising,

Giving the impression

That the wolf’s teeth

Are covered in blood,

So it can be blamed

For the slaughter

Of sheep that stray from

The field painted green

When in reality the truth lies

Within the heart of the herder

That has too much pride

Running through his veins.

This is very dark, Cowboy. Dark and disturbing. It reminds me of The Shining, for some reason. Very, very good writing, though. You have a specific talent of layering on really vivid imagery with a subtle double meaning that always makes me think about the layers involved. Very, very good, indeed. Always a pleasure to read what is in that head of yours...:)

Thank you.
A powerful glimpse into a very dark night of the soul... this metaphor and magic piercing the world in these deep shades of blood... Always rich and deep, my friend...

Thank you kindly brother in poetry.
Indeed, for whatever reason we have grown to fear and hate wild animals like wolves and bears and make up fables about them and their monstrosity. While we humans are the most dangerous animals there is, slaughtering animals everyday, even the beasts we've grown to fear and hate.

Oh you are so right bout that, we need to worry more about our kind and less bout other animals. We.. read more
Though deep down we know the truth, it is in the nature of the beast, to lay blame elsewhere.

Such a clever poem.

Thank you very much.
Even the field is fake and painted. I love it when truth is paired with lies, giving it that little hint of double meaning.

Thank you for the compliment.
There is a distance from the mere perception and facts even in peripheral level, at heat's level distance will be more, when dealing with a heart with pride the truth is often the opposite of what it is to the regular eyes, very thick allegory, so relevant in this decade more than the past
