Absolution

Absolution

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

Inspired by a song of the same name by The Pretty Reckless

"

Bound in chains by links

Of cold steel attitude,

The only way to free my soul now

Is to hammer out the truth,

Even if it means self inflicted wounds…

For bruises fade away, bones heal up,

But the heartache of breaking your heart

Is a pain greater than any torture chamber

Could ever produce…

My judgment has no GPS,

My morals have lacked decorum…

I can only hope your understanding

Can read between the lines

And your forgiveness is strong enough

To lift your heavy heart to the heavens

Where pain has no meaning

And absolution flows like

The blood of Christ.

Wonderfully composed, poignant expression of regret and the hope for atonement. How many of us are even capable of allowing ourselves to be so humbled in the face of our own culpability? I think it's an area in which most of us fall short.

Well here i am surprised :p.. This style was really a Donne style and i loved it.Mainly the intensity with which you write these lines caught me off guard.A thrilling write with judgement having no GPS and links of cold steel attitude... the ending is just marvellous.Divine work here.... Encore Cowboy!! :)

I have to agree with Jacob, nice job here cowboy.
I really wish that my judgment had GPS. It's taken a few wrong turns.

THank you Ana, I think all our judgements get lost sometimes.
this is your best yet, Dale...
what an ending line---powerful in a spiritual allusion sort of way...
my judgement also has no GPS--and mapquest is down...so i am on my own.

really like the "cold steel attitude" that flavors this piece in more than just that line.

but i do believe there is always room for forgiveness...
