Big Top (Big Whoop)A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
Within the tentless big top Daddy likes to clown around Between the lips Of the bearded lady While all the carnies Without a sideshow Take out the trash Then gossip about it To the elephants In tutus, with no ballet To give them rhyme or
reason.
The dancing chicken Thinks it is too hot to
handle Till it winds up Burned out on fame, Winding up so fried It will give a piece to
anyone Still interesting in tasting
her meat.
The human cannonball Wants a shot at the Trapeze artist Simply for the rush Of hanging on By the skin of his
fingertips.
These kinds of acts Will continue to go on and
on As long as patrons flock, Anxious to buy tickets To the spectacle Thinking that watching The three-ring circus Is the way of escaping The reality of their freak
show lives.
