Loco-Motive

Loco-Motive

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

A cause for justice is a just cause.

"

A hungry hunk of metal

Rolling along like

The tracks go on forever,

Feeding on coal

Turning it into unwanted smoke.

The more energy shoveled

Into the belly of the beast

The faster it goes,

And…

The faster it goes

The more energy

Is needed to be shoveled

Into the belly of the beast.

What happens when

All of its nourishment is gone?

Cause only time lasts forever.

Its engine will cease to be

A poison to the hobos

And its magnificent body

Will be overrun

By the maggots of society.

What this beautiful planet has to offer is finite; and one day the nourishment will all be gone.

A fine poem, that gives much pause for thought about the headlong race of mankind.

Beccy.

you're welcome. thank you for sharing. Blessings. Benita/ kindred poet

A most profound work, lends itself to interpretation as well...I do feel a personal connection to this one, hailing from a once-prosperous coal-mining town, but the coal ran out, and the trains (not to mention most of the town) are nowhere to be found now...frankly the 'maggots' are really all that's left, and the trouble they've laid down in place of the forgotten tracks...awesome piece Cowboy.

and the engine ceases...and the hobos have no train to jump...no ride to nowhere and everywhere...

i like the metaphor here...the nourishment of society...when its gone, the maggots of society take over.

we all run out of steam.

That is a great way to look at it, thank you Jacob.

Didn't see that ending coming, Bravo.
