Just led astray

By the media’s trick of light.

 

It is okay you're not Snow White,

So put that poisonous apple down

And be the natural beauty

God intended you to be,

Instead of sleeping your life away…

 

Believe me when I say

You don’t have to be a princess

To feel like a million bucks,

Just one prince who feels rich

With you in his arms.

It's so interesting that back in the late 1700's women who were larger and had pale skin were considered "beautiful" by the standards of the era. How times have changed! It doesn't help that people are able to seek instant gratification in a virtual reality. Everything in moderation (even vanity)!

Ah, society imposes a standard of physical beauty which pressured girls/women out there to undergo several artificial procedures just to fit in. The last stanza is absolutely my favorite.

A woman who has the courage to be who she is inside first and shares it with the world is one to be admired. So many are led to believe that beauty must be painted on that the real art of beauty becomes lost midst the bottles of make-up, botox needles, and other hype that is only a temporary fix. I believe a woman has a choice to enhance what she has been gifted with, but to take it to extremes robs her and those who fail to have the opportunity to know the woman behind the mask, so have the opportunity to come to know the heart!
