A Salute To Those Who Truly Bleed (And Have Bled) Red, White And Blue

No creative metaphors, just a heartfelt thank you to the U.S. Military for all the sacrifices they make.

Freedom is an ideal

That can only be realized

When we have citizens

That are willing to put

Their lives on the line

To protect it.

 

The least those of us

Who stand on the sidelines

Can do is honor those brave soldiers

By not letting the gift they

Fight for go to waste.

 

Let Freedom ring with respect

By giving a salute towards the blue sky

For those who gave the ultimate sacrifice

For the beliefs of the red, white and blue…

 

And give a sentimental shout out

To all the veterans

For their selfless service

To the cause we are free to believe in…

 

While saying a prayer

Of protection

To the men and women

That continue the proud tradition

Of protecting this great land.

I feel like this attitude is so lost on a lot of people today (and not just the young ones either). Maybe it's because there haven't been any major world wars in most of our lifetimes anymore. I don't know if it's a generational thing or what, but your write has provided a very timely reminder.

Powerful and worthwhile words shared my friend. It is sad. New generation forgot. The WW1 and WW2 gave so much for us to be free. This world would brake my Father's heart. A Paratrooper in Germany from 1943-1945. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.
