Living Eulogy (Heart In Hand)

Living Eulogy (Heart In Hand)

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

An appreciation, a reminder and a revelation.

"

To those have blessed me with love

         Of the blessed family kind,

                  Unconditional friendship,

                           Or of an intimate nature…

I write this living eulogy for the purpose

Of letting all those that have touched my life

That I appreciate your generosity in loving me;

Also as a reminder to myself of how wonderful life I have

By knowing you all.

That is to include those I still have to meet

Before I earn my wings.

When they lay me to rest, please do not cry

Because I left this world;

I ask that you rejoice in the fact

That you all have enriched my time

In human form

With every gesture of kindness

         Shown to me,

And with any kind thought you had of me

Despite the man that I am/was.

For I know I was far from perfect,

But please know this,

I did the best I could with the knowledge

And emotions I possess.

As I part this world to hopefully

Take my place in heaven

I would like to leave you with one last gift,

It is not expensive nor fancy,

But it is sincerely from my heart…

         And that is my LOVE.

Thank you so much, and thank you for accepting part of my heart.
Cowboy, that was heartrendering.. Based on the pieces I have read from you, I have known something about your health particularly about your heart condition( hope I'm wrong). I cannot say anything but thank you also for being kind and accomodating. Life is full of surprises. We only live once so enjoy every moment with your loved ones. God bless!

You are very welcome.
This is a wonderful concept, Dale, and so beautifully expressed. Love - we take it with us, and the more we give the more we receive...

Hey thank you so much, glad you liked it… I actually teared up writing it.
A www....I really like the thought behind this poem. The thing is we should tell those in our lives that we love them before we pass on. Everyday if possible because one day it may be too late.

One thing...I think you left something out of the 12th line. Is it supposed to say "when they lay my body to rest" or maybe you meant " when they lay me to rest"?

there is nothing like family and friends..and that love...which you CAN take with you at the end...all the material possessions earned, stay right here where they are.

nicely expressed, Dale.
