Before And After(The Rain)

Before And After(The Rain)

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Before the rain

I could clearly see

Through the pain;

Water spots

Of mistrust…

Cracks from neglect…

Dirty footprints

Of lies…

Cloudy apologize

Creating confused emotions…

After the rain

I clearly see

That I wasn’t

Clearly seeing before

The storm,

Cause I was being

Scared of flooding out;

The water spots

Were bits of truth

Needing to be

Cleaned off…

Those cracks

Were inviting me

To see what lies

Beneath the surface…

Dirty footprints

Can come clean

When washed out…

The clouds were

A temporary reminder

To permanently appreciate

The bright skies

In my life…

I can clearly see now

That clarity cannot be seen

Until the dark

Compliments the light.

Yes. The dark needs the light, and vice versa. There is no free will without contrast, we need to measure, test, and challenge the soul against that contrast everyday. It is essential to our spiritual growth. The other thing I felt in this poem, and really liked, was that the author chose light. Positivity. Chose to grow, rather than wither, in bitterness. Die.

Got me thinking about one of my favorite subjects, thank you for writing this.

A well thought out poem with a profound truth, 'clarity cannot be seen Until the dark Compliments the light'.

I agree my friend with the above lines. We must survive the storm to know what we truly need. No weakness in the outstanding poetry.

I always in enjoy your thoughts. You are welcome.
A "rainy theme" again. Just what I have told you before, we're both fascinated with the rain. Indeed we can determine light from the dark. Like how we determine joy when we know sadness.
Rain is a good muse in writing. You can relate it in many things in life. For me it is an inspiration. This sunmertime here, how we really love the rain!
This is superb. I like how you presented the concept. Thanks for sharing this.

Lol.You're welcome.
It is a compelling metaphor, and we do learn from the "dark", if we allow it.. many don't and so remain in the dark repeating. But can't that last verse also be read that you ONLY learn from mistakes (That clarity cannot be seen
Until the dark
Compliments the light.") It's a fine line I know, but don't we learn in many ways and from many forms?

Like the other reviewers I too liked the mirror affect and how you wove this together. Nice poem, R+R C-BOY

Exactly how I feel, I can watch it rain and feel at ease no matter what is happening in my life.

Forgive me for the religious reference, but I can't help but think about the phrase..."God washes aw.. read more
damn, this metaphor is so perfectly carried out...

"until the dark/ complements the light"
we cannot see through the rain..

i like the way the second half of this piece reflects back to the first part...like a mirrored reflection, creates a nice symmetry.

Thank you kindly sir, nice to know it is being seen as I intended.
Yes, I believe that you can never fully appreciate the light until you have witnessed those dark times. This is a beautiful write about taking those dark times and learning from them and seeing them in a positive way. Of course I love how you have tied this all in with nature, the rain has a way of cleansing the spirit, don't you think? Wonderful write as always, Cowboy...
