Split Mistake

Split Mistake

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Being split in two

keeps me from getting

caught in between.

Though the price I pay

is never feeling whole hearted.

Lessons are learned

with every stitch sewn.

The price of scar tissue

is it leaves me vulnerable

to bleeding from the past,

but the trail it would leave

would confirm my path forward

then fill someone else with life.

"Though the price I pay
is never feeling whole hearted."
There is such power and depth in this poem as a whole, but also in those two lines alone. Painful, 'real' and thought-provoking - lovely poem

no worries - you're welcome :)
I like the connections that you make with this piece...the idea of being split and also the idea of the past creating a path toward filling the world of someone else. This has a surreal undertone and truly made me think while I was reading. Lessons have certainly been learned...

Why thank you very much.
Love this can be read in so many ways , we carry the past with us into the next relationship , the scars makes us wary still love is always a gift.

and there's that saying "it is better to have loved...then not know love at all." I am not so sure some days....

I am not sure either. Thanks
'...never feeling wholehearted...' These few words hurt, Cowboy. It is so sad to walk around feeling this way. One of my friends daddy just died. Her momma is walking around like this and I seriously wonder how long she will last. She said half of her has been torn away and she just cannot stand the pain. They were married 46 years. Very powerful piece in very few words. Angi~

Thank you very much... always appreciate your reviews and wisdom.
You stitch your heart and move on... This is a life lesson that is learned the hard way...
There will be pain but you become stronger once you've healed.
Well versed, my sweet friend!~xoxo~

Thank you so much... well said.

That's the way of it. The think about the walking wounded, they will eventually get somewhere.

Oh, how we live and learn and try to make the best from relationships that pain us so much and when we can take the experience, with the scar tissue and all and move on, we are perhaps a bit wiser. It is difficult to trust again after being hurt, but we can try and with time perhaps move on a bit and enjoy the company of another. Yes, to feel as though we are part of a split mistake is very appropriate!
You always give us something good to ponder my friend!!
