blinded by faith
instead of following blind faith. -- thought provoking lines...
I like the imagery in this one; it's dark, but there is also the idea of patience and hope. For if there was no rain, the world would be a desert; the clouds always part...eventually. Well done.

Thank you very much... that is exactly what I was going for.
A strong bit of philosophy here. I feel like this poem is a gem!
Profound thought number one, "lost in the dark, blinded by faith instead of following blind faith."
I have spent years listening to "saints" discuss "faith" and you just nailed it in two lines...
Then you touch on the dichotomy of identical twins... Humanity condensed into such similar DNA, but the path so divergent.
I often wonder of culpable Able was in the attitude Cain had... I had two brothers. They could instigate Hell and come off looking like cherubs. Did the world twist Cain? God obviously felt he deserved to live and be fruitful. Still, he was twisted and he did murder. Now I wonder how long he stood in the rain...
Very thought provoking.

Geez... the water was so deep already I thought I was back a Crater Lake with this poem. You made .. read moreGeez... the water was so deep already I thought I was back a Crater Lake with this poem. You made me reach to grasp this thought late in the afternoon.
I like how you throw in Cain and Able. Patients is a virtue we all need. Through our faith we have confidence that all things are possible we just need to be patient enough to wait. Wonderful words and thoughts.

Than you very much, it was a challenge to work them in creatively and in proper form.
There are times when it seemingly takes a Holy Storm to get us to understand the complexities of "religion", faith, and how it all works together to sink in. When we follow in faith, blind as we are, we are truly exhibiting what I believe is part of being Holy. The church has its place, organized religion has its place, but it is when we are able to understand and believe and follow that which we feel is our inner voice, we do not need to be in a church with a preacher present, or a priest.
Your thoughts are appreciated! And yes, the "brother to brother" references are excellent!

Why thank you so much young lady. Your thoughts are always valued.
Here lies the true message of the Bible. Not loud preachers threatening hell fires and screaming blue murder from lighted pulpits! No blind faith, but faith in the human spirit and hope and perseverance is what it will take to save us.
I have almost given up on organized religion after reading your writes. Thanks for showing us the light Dale.
Loved the Cain and Able reference.

Of course Dale. Thanks for the enlightening read. Take care...
wonderful write and it leads one to ponder.. thinking is always a good thing. I like how you wove Cain and Able into the poem without turning the poem ultra religious. As I follow mindfulness more and more, I am learning to be patient in the now. I think this is what the Bible intended by making patience a virtue. It takes a lot of dedication to be virtuous. love this!

It was cleverly done.. caught my attention right away.
I like the play on words. Religion does cause us to look in the wrong direction, I know, I went to catholic school. I got smacked around a lot too by Sister Benignus. I'm leaning about patience but I still stumble. I'm thinking of taking up meditation again. Great work as always.

You lucked out. They taught me to be proper and nice. The real world is not proper and nice.
It's better to be dead and cool than alive and uncool
