Bloody Dam

Bloody Dam

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Fire in the hole

translates to too much blood

in the nose

that a Kleenex is too soft to handle.

A paper dam will only hold

a raging river for a microsecond.

The hounds of hell are blood thisty

and the trail you are leaving

is surely wetting their appetite

that will leave you as pale as the moon

they faithfully howl at.

That lunar smile will shine

upon your headstone

mocking your epitaph,

“I burned too many bridges

without learning to walk on water.”

Wow. I took a different path when reading this. It reminded me of "mental hounds and addictions.

Thank you so much.
'.. the hounds of hell are blood thirsty ~ and the trail you are leaving ~ is surely wetting their appetite .'

Thoughts expressed with enormous power and absolute truth. Too much said and done without thought or rather - the wrong kind of thought. People think they live and die by the sword. Wrong. It's by the word, even to the scrawled signatures on declarations of war.. and as we know, there are so many kinds of 'war.'

You really do hit the button, Dale.

Thank you so much classy lady.
This is what I'm afraid of...an embedded fear of burning to many bridges...

You have captured the danger of leaving a trail for the hounds... always sniffing for blood...

Well penned... riveting write!

Thank you beautiful... I think that is everyone's fear.
I always say that people who burn bridges need to be great swimmers but I love this so much more. It speaks volumes about the consequences of actions without forethought. Nicely written.

Thank you very much wild one xo
Cowboy, the last two lines speak volumes. Better think twice before saying or doing something so permanent. Once those bridges are gone, that's it. Angi~

You got that right, thank you :)
The last two lines say it all. We should be careful of the bridges we burn today for we no not what the future holds for us.

Why thank you.
Unique and unsettling images, leading up to the burning of bridges - which is never a good idea, since walking on water is reserved only for Deities... Great piece, Dale.
