Words(In The Red)

Words(In The Red)

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Sacred are the thorns that help me

bleed words onto a blank page,

releasing the overflow from my veins.

Unwanted tears become the holy water

that christens my words to turn them into red wine

so I can raise a toast to the pain.

Sweat flows into my eyes blurring my vision enough

to make the words look like a sea of red,

that carry my lost emotions to a sea of tranquility

where they can rest at the bottom

like sunken treasures.

Thank you again... glad you like it.
I agree with the logic of the poem. Most great writers bleed words from their heart and their soul. Experiences good and bad become treasures with time. The strong description made the reader feel the passion and the pain in the words. Thank you for the excellent poetry.

Thank you kindly sir.
where they can rest at the bottom
like sunken treasures. -- I like these lines a lot, especially in the context of this piece.

For me, at least, this piece shows up as an image of a writer sitting at a desk, desperately trying to rid his brain of swirling thoughts. I see a furious abandon mixed with the saddness in this one.

I enjoyed the references to the color red --a very important color in terms of classical literature--you have the blood, the wine, and the sea churning red. I also like the way that you subtly referenced the transformation of holy water into red wine, while using the word "christens", which makes this almost prayer like. Many different facets to this piece...I could keep going, but I'll stop here. Well done.

Well deserved my friend.....
WOW! This is dark and heartfelt... painful emotions need to rest sometimes, for peace of mind.
You will not believe this... but I just wrote one very similar to this theme...
are we like minded or what? I believe so! lol

Well penned Dale!...nice work. :)

Thank you for sharing this piece Dale, for I read your blog, but I couldn't respond... ;)
I agree, with all also on this one you shared.

Sometimes, it's just go to the bottom, and lift up to breathe anew :)
For that makes the most wonderful art.
Enjoyed this one,
