Love should always be unconditional

 

It’s okay if you need to wear a mask

to protect your emotions from the world

cause I know your face by heart.

 

If you need to stand in the shadows

to keep your feelings safe from harm

I will grow you a tree with plenty of leaves

cause I know your face by heart.

 

If you need distance to sort out your thought

travel as far as you need to get that space

for I know your face by heart…

 

         And it will always be smiling inside me.

this is a really positive piece of poetry...and connotes that trust...trust enough to let the other person be who she is--have the space she needs ---etc.

and yet the speaker is comfortable enough in the relationship to know that no matter what else is happening in her life and mind...she is smiling at him.

really like this..and especially the last line which makes it all come together so perfectly. and positively.
