Candle In The Rain

God bless the innocent taken to soon in that Connecticut school. May the light last long enough to see us through this dark day.

 

  

A single flame burns

inside the fallen rain,

protected by the breath

of a determined angel

seeking solace for the innocent

paralyzed by madness

before their act

received its curtain call.

Though it knows that the candle

cannot last forever

it knows the light should

weather the storm.

I don't think I could write about this if I tried. The anger...the grief....it's more powerful than words. Their emotions are of certain death. The death of Chistmas....the death of Holiday's to come....the death of innocence. Their world will never feel safe again. A hole too big for anybody to fill. A despair that should never be fathomed. The surivivors will be haunted for life. The joy stripped from their dreams. Only a "just God" can bring these people closure.

I can't even imagine what those people are going through right now... I felt numb that whole day, I barely found these words to say.

The light is eternal, it weathers any storm and is only truly recognized when darkness descends. We must hold the faith that together light will bring healing, and find a way to stop the madness.
