Reap What You Soul

Reap What You Soul

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Treading the murky waters

when the arm isn’t long enough
to reach a helpless hand.

Only One finger above water

may ruin the soles of your shoes

but the heart will feel baptized

in a cool mountain stream.

This reminds me of that painting two arms reaching for each other...to most it symbolizes God reaching down and man reaching up ......but for me it symbolizes relationship ....locked hand to elbow...strength and endurance....it all starts with selflessness.Love your words as always!

Why thank you so much… good to see you in the cafe again.
Absolutely love your play on words in your title. For so few words, you say quite a bit, this is brilliant, I love it.

Thank you very much.
When I read this I see someone lying on the bank of a river, trying to stretch their arm out to help and then rising up and wading in with abandon realizing that sometimes you have to go all in to save a life. I love how you use the "ruin the soles of your shoes" - a small small price to save a soul.

Now,A Rebel Yell ! Yep you did it,the finger was just letting you know she was about to sneeze! force of habit, some blonds do that even under water. If you give her a tissue, she will buy you new shoes.

Thank you sir.
Not quite sure what your vision was as your wrote..but I see someone reaching out ..thought they can't touch..there is a comfort in knowing neither is alone...Hope...
..forgive me sometimes as I read a vision emerges....

It isn't bout what I intended it is about what you saw in the poem. Nothing to forgive, thank you.
There is an evolution to this poem, from fear, to hope. I can feel that. Thank you for sharing this one Dale

Thank you sir for reading and responding.
This is a superb portrayal of metaphorical beauty :) To know new strength, sometimes feels as though we will never get there on our own, but I guess we do xox
