WOW! This is a very intense piece, and yes you are right when you say that no matter the influences in our lives the path we take is our choice.
This piece has such a eerie feel to it, and I can relate to this in my past in so many ways. I love the lines -
"The father we go
the more the seed of hate grows
around my heart,
till suddenly I find myself alone.
Surrounded in darkness
except a sliver of light"
When you realize you are alone, and the hate is wrapped around your heart, you can choose to go one way or another, some people continue down one path, while others go another. When you go on to say - You were lead down this path by me! I think putting me in all caps is important, because it gives the reader exactly the clarity you were speaking of just two lines above. Again it takes great courage to be able to do this. And to be able to come to your road of salvation. This is an excellent write. The vivid descriptions and comparisons are excellent and really take the reader on a journey of the realization that YES you do choose your path, you make your own choices.
The truth will set you free! Stay strong as you continue to walk down this road to self discovery and that which will allow you to grow into all you are meant to be!
A very revealing, and redemptive write of "awakening"!!
Such a picturesque way of saying we are our own worst enemy, but can be our own savor as well. You really know how to convey a whole lot of emotion and present quite a clear description in order to achieve that. Great piece.
I recall being enthralled by my own inspired vision of things I experienced as a youth. Eventually I made a home in that well of inspiration I thought was mine. Some years later I came to find that there was another resident. In comparison to her, I was, as your words describe it, uncouthed and wild .... like a wolf. But she ignored it and figured I might change someday.
I'm still working at it today. But I figure, she considers my manliness not entirely wolfish. Can't say why.
"I was lead down this path…
by ME!!"
People are good at a lot of things but taking responsibility for their actions is not one of them! I love this poem for taking responsibility! The way you took us on the journey with you was just charming.
"I choose to not move a muscle
until the sunrise comes
to show me forgiveness
and my road to salvation."
The ending is beautiful! Wonderful writing!

Thanks so much for your time and input... you are very right about the responsibility thing.
This seems full of a recently discovered self-awareness. I doubt you ever will be the same. I hope your road to salvation becomes clearer to you as you take that first step....

Nice one. We learn from our mistakes so we have to make them to learn I guess. Great poem!

YW...anytime!
I agree with Ed, but it's needed... to fall down in dark, to see reborn new bright light, and you are not in a well state I feel you my friend, what's going on in your precious mind lately.
I admire this write, it's strong, fulfilled with wisdom, and inner strenght, though.
You will get there sooner than you probably know by now.
Always with you! and take care,
