From the Soil, To the Sky

From the Soil, To the Sky

A Poem by devon

Sprouting from the earth,

Rich soil beneath me.

I've barely budded into this world.

And already big bugs

Try to eat me.

With my roots strong,

And my stem always upright,

I grow taller and taller,

Despite the lack of rain

Or no sunshine.

The further I rise

Above the dirt,

The harder it gets to keep on going.

But my petals become

More striking everyday.

Even when I’m big and strong,

It’s still a fight to survive.

But my struggles have paid off,

Fore I’ve blossomed

Into a beautiful, flourishing flower.

Yes, it does. Great personification and metaphor, comparing life to a sprouting plant. It makes great sense to me, but then again, I have the most off kilter sense of logic.
