![]() You Hold the KeyA Poem by devonIlluminated numbers tell me the time is seven o’ three. They speak the truth, Fore it is around this time that I begin to think of thee. The gentle wave of your hair is what starts this love affair. My feelings for you are immense, But they are an immense waste. I would’ve spared myself--if only I had some common sense. The brown of your eyes fill my mind, instead. Rousing from the divine dream of us, I awake to a nightmarish heartbreak. In reality, there is no us. Your easy laughter has me longing to return to Dreamland. So easily, you lift the heavy lock from my heart. And I struggle to reclaim the key, Because now I’m grieving your depart. You see, your smile is caused by someone other than me. © 2012 devonAuthor's Note
