Bring May FlowersA Poem by devonI met a boy in the summertime who felt so much like spring his touch was neither heated nor chilling, but just the right degree like sunbeams, a smile that spread warmth to my cheeks; it was his kiss that tasted of clover leaves April’s showers fell from his eyes, and a mess of wildflowers sprung from his head sunflowers and daisies were among my favorite things to pick from his green, endless mind and unlike nature’s seasons, the boy who breathed spring did not change but he had the misfortune to have met a girl whose favor fell like the fall leaves and in the winter she grew cold, and her stinging words hung in the air like her visible white breath she no longer gathered the sunflowers and the daisies; they withered at her freezing touch and the boy whose fingertips carried all the gentility of March could not unthaw my January heart © 2015 devonAuthor's Note
