Mahogany Skin

You always had a knack

For carving your name

Onto any surface you touched.

 

And like school boys leave behind

Legacies on desks,

And lovers document their ‘forever’

On tree trunks,

 

I still feel traces of your warmth

Where your initials

Are now etched into my mahogany flesh.

I always find it interesting in class, when you've just finished you're assignments and you absentmindedly trace the carved name of a long-forgotten student on your desk. Something about it just makes you feel like you're a small part of something that doesn't really belong to you. So, I'm very glad their are people like you who leave their names behind for people like me too ponder too much over!

haha..last year there was this bench where me and my friends would write quotes and comments about the class...draw little anime or simply carve our name over it. this really is great, getting to know your 'ancestors' who have been in the same place you are in:):):D
