Mahogany Skin

Mahogany Skin

A Poem by devon

You always had a knack

For carving your name

Onto any surface you touched.

And like school boys leave behind

Legacies on desks,

And lovers document their ‘forever’

On tree trunks,

I still feel traces of your warmth

Where your initials

Are now etched into my mahogany flesh.

I'm back! And back to something wonderful. Your writing was always really good. But I feel like it has improved even more in my abcense. I like the mystery off all of it, and the feeling it conveys. It is quite a peice of work. I read it three times just because I loved the words. Great job!

The one thing (out of many, many, many) I love about your poetry/writings, is that no matter how many times you've read it, you can go back and read it again and experience the same feelings or different ones, but they're still completely breathtaking!

I think this is great. Simple, concise, full of meaning and softly said. A breath of love that has resonated with me. Nice work, Devon.

well I think this is pretty damn good..that is what I think...I love the analogy of a lovers impression and a desk carving.....I realise though that all my desk carvings have been turned into firewood
