Ode to My Son

Ode to My Son

A Poem by Danny W

oh what a fool i was,

willing to risk your welfare,

willing to risk it all...

i had no worries, no care.

i dreamed of the day you would throw a ball

sit on my lap and tell me it all.

i dreamed of the day you'd become a man,

give me grandchildren to share,

but dreams faded away...

when i had no worries, no care.

and oh! i think of you a lot,

your face locked in my memory tight as a knot.

oh Lord have mercy on me!

i miss him so much and wish i was there,

forgive me for the time...

when i had no worrries, no care.
