Battle of ConquerorsA Poem by Diana CarolinaIt's often said that "Love conquers all" but, what about fear?
I looked at you straight in the eyes
Just so to hear my mind say it-- Veni. Vidi. Vici. I came. I saw. I conquered. And I laughed at the thought; See, who is to say what conquers? Is it the happiness that I have you To myself once again? Or is it the fear of the thought That I might lose you yet once more? It is not your numb, staring eyes Where I can find such an answer, Nor is in mine, because you see, In my eyes there is a clash of two worlds, The affection I feel for your words And the fear that collides with the Contradiction behind those talked love notes That slide from your lips, as if they're nothing. My mind knows nothing but fight its urges Whilst my heart digs both their graves-- Much as it might be a tabboo For me to ask which of us shall win the conquer And which one shall perish with the fall I will still hold you dear in my embrace, Matter not if its with fear or faith, My thought came to you My heart thundered when it saw you And though my body shakes in terror My soul has already halfy conquered Because even in battle, you never left my mind And if there's something I can feel from your stare, Is that I never left yours.
