you stand alone

you stand alone

A Poem by D. Colton P.

I know you dont need someone to take care of you. you are perfect the way you stand alone. But at some point everyone falls. Ill pick you up when its you on the ground. I wanna be the one you turn to, the one you cry to, the one you fall asleep next to. before I met you people asked me to describe the girl i would spend my life with. It was pure luck when she walked into my life. There you were weighed down by that giant chip on your shoulder. Life had punched you in the nose and now you were fighting back. You push everyone you love away, but i wont let you push me away. With a switchblade knife you cut at my heartstrings. Like a roller coaster you keep me off balance. When im with you i feel something that cant be forgotten. When your gone i hurt like nothing ive ever known. you fit me like a glove and ill die before i let you slip from my fingers. Cause you are you and I am me. I swear to god ill be the one you turn to, the one you cry to, and when we both are dead ill sure as f**k be the one they lay you next to
