Closing the Door on Yesterday

Once I looked upon the days before
When I felt you close to me
And we stepped beyond ourselves
Now you I cannot see
Life has had its ups and downs
And I always felt you near
Tears befall the world I know
When I don't feel you here
Things did change our world around
Yet nothing ever kept us apart for long
And now it feels you've grown away
And I wonder what went wrong

I'm closing the door on yesterday
My eyes, sight ahead of me
Now tears that fall, if at all
Without your love here to see

I'd almost forgotten a time or two
Yet you always found a way
To find yourself in my heart
And in my world again one day

For life, you've been a part of me
