Willingness

Willingness

A Poem by Donald Cole
"

this is how it starts

"

Willingness

I’d been searching for the key to life

When I hadn’t even found the door

Without looking at what I had

I always wanted more

Chasing these broken dreams of mine,

But never could really see,

Looking through a bottle

Is no way to be free.

All I would do is pacify

Not work my feelings out

Start climbing the hill of life

To be shadowed by a doubt

‘Open up your mind’, I hear

‘Let your feelings grow’

Escape and anesthetic

Leave nothing left to show

‘Cept for hurt and pain inside

And outside all around

Seems when that is what I’m looking for

That is what I’ve found

So I’m looking for the answer

That’s been right in front of me

A new way of living

Is what I long to see

‘Just a little faith’, I hear

is all I really need

God is walking with me

The rest He’ll give indeed

The key is sitting in Gods’ hand

‘The door has been right there’ He says

The answers you’ve been looking for

‘Have been waiting here for all your days.’
