Reach Me

Reach Me

A Poem by Donald Cole
"

Ghosts from the past

"

You bring intensity to my mind
Still it reaches farther
You’ve shown my stomach butterflies
Swimming in their laughter
To reach through your eyes
A gaze that flows so deep
Draws me into a trance
I’d hardly even sleep
For my heart starts flowing free
The more your eyes touch mine
I feel them reaching deep inside
What is it that they find?
Could they go where I could not?
Oh, what this does to me
Take my heart my souls on fire
Just how to break free
Then leave me with a yearning
To be right there again
For I start to look some more
A little farther this time
To reach a little into you?
To hold anything back at all?
Surpass any feeling
I could ever recall
How you raise this life in me?
How you do this in my heart?
Leading me to feel once more
From what I did depart
Now longing for these feelings
That you have instilled to me
I crave the very thoughts of you
Lest you set me free

Beautiful! The warm remembrance of a lover is always kind to my heart. I love the flow of this piece. I kept picturing this warm breeze in the summer time on a porch as it's recited on a rocking chair from a man that would never forget.

Nice write.
