![]() The ShadowA Poem by Donald Cole![]() Ghosts from the past![]()
Living life under the currents
Not seeming to be here
Not having any more to give
My mind not totally clear
What way it is my heart goes
For it tends to be alone
I try to look to God for strength
And to look at how I’ve grown
I go through my days even still
I recognize the pain
The loneliness, a shadow holding on
I’m standing in the rain
Though you’d never see it
For I am only me
I hold on to what I can
Not much, in the light, you’ll see
I’m looking always for an easier way
The path I choose moves on
Though somehow I go step by step
I move, the picture is gone
It seems that I, the shadow
Still empty though so full
I’m looking at the other side
Yet I am missing my goal
If I were to step into the light
The one I’ve sought so long
The fear that I the shadow have
Is that then I will be gone
For are there feelings other than bad
Is there more than this in me
Once more I turn to God
For the answer, I pray I see.
