An Audience of One

A poem inspired by a sermon i heard, reflecting

In the busyness of my mind

I go through my day

Looking for the better path

I settle down to pray

The world tries to take the lead

As it would have me run

And I only try to remember

I have an audience of 0ne.

For nothing here will bring me there

I whisper inside my mind

And nothing on the outside of me

Will to heaven, my heart bind

And it’s hard to just be faithful

Through everything that I’ve done

But I try; I try to please You Lord

You are my audience of One

So I’ll walk into my day

Looking for You there

And mindfully I’ll continue on

And this will be my prayer

Keep me in Your great hands

That I may walk in Your ways

Help me understand Your will

Throughout all my days

Hold on to me, don’t let go

And lead me til time is done

Let me finish the race knowing

I pleased my audience of One
