does it end?

does it end?

A Poem by Doug Scibeck
"

just a long saturday afternoon

"
Each step was just one more
counting each step,
so there is only the next one.
count to ten,
start over,
count each step.
more and more, higher and higher
there is no mountain to climb,
no trail to follow,
only counting the next step

ever rising sun,
boulders slick with yesterday's rain,
drinking from puddles among the rocks
as breezes go through the trees,
this rest has already cost too much.

without knowing why,
need to go upward.
there must be a top.
only more steps
to go.

climb.
one more step,
then another,
start a count,
keep count,
amongst trees, rocks, mud
keep stepping.
there is no top,
no stop,
just keep counting.
take one more step.

i love the breathless rhythm, the pulsing und driving forward, it's like beeing in a mill, without knowing where to go to, just continue, continue, continue, trusting there will be something that was worth all the steps, only the human being and the nature, nothing more, nothing less. Your poems are very unique, Doug, i love them.
