1. She's All I Ever Had - The SecretA Story by Coffee & RainHere is a story of a womans battle between the man she loves and her husband
Her heart was breaking as she drove to work. She knew what she had to do. She didn't want to do it but she knew she had to. Tears kept coming to her eyes till she couldn't see. She had cried all night but still she seemed to have more and more tears the closer she got to work.
"Oh God" she cries out.
The night replays itself in her head.
She had a nice evening talking to him. He could always bring a smile to her face when she was down. She loved talking to him and it amazed her how it felt so natural. She didn't have to pretend, she could finally be herself. She knew this wouldn't, couldn't last.
She was married. Sure, he was abusive but she was still married. And here she was having an emotional affair with another man. She knew it wasn't right even though her own husband had had a few himself. She knew she was doing wrong but somehow she just didn't seem to care. This man she was starting to fall for was wonderful. He made her feel wonderful. But she knew it wouldn't last. As much as she would have wanted it to… needed it to. It just couldn't.
She woke up to her husband sitting up on the bed.
"What's wrong?" she asked him.
"I had a bad dream" was his reply.
She lays her head back down, "What about?"
"I had a dream you were cheating on me."
She didn't say anything
"Where is your phone?" He asks
She had been texting this other man. She had been hiding her phone at night so he wouldn't decide to text at a bad time and reveal her secret.
"Where is your phone, Cali?" He asks again, furiously.
"Why?" She asks
"Because I want to see who you are talking to. I know you are talking to someone"
She hated thinking about this night. She hated thinking about everything that was said, everything that had happened. But she told him everything. Everything that she was doing, who she was talking to and how far they went. They had never slept together and as far as she was concerned, they had more intimate nights talking than sex would have ever been. It wasn't acceptable to her husband. He didn't find that a truthful answer.
"What did you guys do!?" Seth, who had been her husband for 6 years asked her.
"We only talked. He made me feel special" Cali responded
Seth goes into the master closet and grabs his pistol.
Cali now has pulled off on the side of the road. She couldn't bear to think about this. She wanted to go back in time. Back to the time when she didn't feel guilty, back to the time when she was happy. But when was she ever truly happy? Only when she was with Landon. She couldn't go back.
Her wrists were throbbing. She looked down at them, started to notice them turning purple. She didn't think they would do that. She had other things to worry about then to cover up. Oh, how she wishes she wore a long sleeve shirt. It didn't matter that it was summer. She was able to compose herself once again to start driving again.
It didn't matter what she said to Seth. He thought she had committed the ultimate sin and he didn't want her in this life anymore. Her or Landon. She had begged and pleaded for her life for his life.
She told Seth everything every little detail. Every kissed she shared, every touch, every moment. It wasn't enough. He wanted more, he had a perverse desire to hear her say they had sex. That she had had sex in their bed. Since she brought him to their house when Seth was away on a work trip, he naturally assumed she had slept with him in all the places in their house.
She paid for it that night. Her body hurt and her heart hurt. As she pulled into work, her heart hurt more.
She went into the office and sat down at her desk. Her eyes were fogging up again. But she was going to do this. She had to do the right thing. Somehow, she convinced herself this was the right thing. It was, wasn't it?
Landon walks in. All she wanted to do was run to his arms. To feel him hold her. To tell her he would make it better and that everything would be alright. But she didn't. She couldn't.
Landon looks at her and he knows something happened. He had come to know her so well these past few months he knew when she was upset. Wasn't too hard to tell though. As swollen as her eyes were from crying. As he look at her he could see she longed for him.
Oh how he wanted to gather her up in her arms and let her just cry on his shoulder. But he couldn't. He knew better. She was married. He knew they shouldn't be doing anything but he couldn't help it.
She was amazing. He tried for so long to not care. But she amazed him everyday. Then he finds out how miserable she is in her marriage. He knew he shouldn't have but he wanted her to be happy. He certainly didn't know it would get this far.
He smiled at her as he left the office.
She didn't know how to tell him. It wasn't like they could go off together and talk. The only way they could was if they text. As much as it broke her heart she started typing. Seth found out about us. I told him everything. So now what happens? was all he could respond.
They were already talking about getting married. She wanted to leave him but was just trying to get the strength to do it. So was this their chance?
I have to do the right thing Cali text back
What is that?
What I want to do and what I have to do are two totally different things
These words brought tears to his eyes.
She continued Landon I care so much about you but I have to make my marriage work. I have to do the right thing
By this time tears are rolling down her eyes. This is the worse day of my life she things to herself. She is grateful that she went into the bathroom so no one was around to watch her pathetic self. The next words she reads starts her in uncontrollable sobs.
I thought we were going to grow old together.
