Parallel Universe

Parallel Universe

A Poem by Sanober

 Somewhere...in a parallel universe

i have never... parted ways,

with the pearlescent ghost...

of the moon, i have never

let the sun...slip away either,

 its golden sagas ... permanently

etched into my horizon

 the tang of salt...never leaves

the swirling air, and the coconut trees

never stop sambaing, to the songs

of breaking waves

i have never...let those sea-winged

    summer evenings, melt

 away from me... nor ever...

turned my cheeks away

from the pecks of June’s rain

familiar faces are still

gathered...somewhere

around a bonfire on New Year's Eve,

where garlic bread

   and grilled chicken are sprinkled

  with lemony laughter

i have never...bid farewell

to those lemons, or laughter,

never let the drum...of adulthood

drown out the jungle stories

father told me as a child...

somewhere...a small bird,

still lies clasped between

my hands, in silent healing,

 and mother is still smiling

beside me, at a brown hen

nuzzling all of her chickens, under

her wings

i have never... allowed the years

to go by...  in the twinkling

of an eye...

or moments of bliss

to pass through me..

without a poem

and somewhere ...in another

parallel universe, i have never

 taken my eyes off you.

What a thrill to see a poem from you, dear Sanober! You are a special soul...remembering all the details of your youth....the building blocks that helped make you the woman you are today. Such a caring, loving soul. Then, the last stanza made me believe you have had your romantic eyes on a special "one" for a long time. Perhaps it is time to reveal this to him? The imagery you employ in all your poems is stunning...and I am thrilled I am reading you again. Lydi**

so simple, yet beautiful :)
I like these kinds of pieces a lot, it brings you somewhere else completely and whatever makes me forget about my current situations I'm all for, so good job haha

A blissful, bittersweet song of beauty... there is the past... those joys and wonders.. and the present, lingering in that light.. and the hopeful sense of what could happen, even now in the flux of time. I loved the feelings that move the reader through the etched images.

I feel like the very breath has been taken from me, and I am left dazed in your "parallel universe". The way the drama builds here, is monumental...from the "pearlescent ghost of the moon", to the "pecks of June's rain." You leave your reader wrapped within a bounty of words that exceed all definition, all comprehension.

I am such a fan, Sanober. And you are such a wonder!

My best
