a rocky startA Poem by dawritathe beginning and overview of my lifes pathway so fara rocky road part 1 At conception we are all wrapped up in each others arms so in love with skin to skin contact, i find out that i am pregnant some six weeks later and the feeling of over joy binds us into a contract, we are going to be parents, and the fact that we come from two different backgrounds gives us uniqueness, our child will be a beauty is all i obesses and your intentions at the time were ok but not the best, being so young at the time we werent equipped , to deal with the ugliness of lifes bull s**t, high in the hills in a small town with nothing to offer, if i stayed there i knew we would suffer at age seventeen its now time to make deicisons as a mother, jobs were scarce, racisim is extreme, im a native of newyork im not use to these things, way in the hills of gardner massachusettes, im the odd ball amongst these high school students, new kid in class and wow SHES BLACK! but im thinking its 1994 and white people still acting like that , i guess they do, commenting on everything i say and do, and here i am carrying a life of mixed heritage, and even though i know that her father's love is dear, hes not strong enough to deal with loving us here, like everyone here has been living under a rock, cause seeing an interacial young couple, with a mixed baby and the girl got dred locks! im not use to this trailer park lifestyle s**t so i grabbed by high school diploma and split, and told her daddy if he can get his s**t together that he could come with, he never got it together he continued to smoke crack, sleep around and be not responsible for what weve created , so i got married, who has time to wait, i found a fine young man who loved us just the same , married at nineteen two young fools, eloped without the grooms family cause they didnt think us getting married was cool, but now at 28, i say thank god for this day, my family's intact cause the lord paved the way © 2008 dawritaAuthor's Note
