Beauty and the Beast: Chapter 1A Poem by SarahAnd the story goes on...In the kingdom lived a maiden Humble cottage in which she dwelled With four sisters, cruel and scornful She went by the name of Belle She loved to read many books And was gorgeous as she was fair Always seeking more adventure And still with kindness to spare But the village was plain and small And she wanted more than it could give So she poured herself into magical books Showing way she wanted to live There’s a narcissistic man in the village Gaston, the handsome and bold Had all the girls waiting in lines But his beauty is gilded gold For he was ill-mannered and impolite With the cruelest things to say Belle’s beauty got his attention And she kept shoving him away But all events must take a turn That’s just how fairytales are So one day Belle’s inventor father Had to travel far He said to each of his daughters He’ll get them a gift that they chose Her sisters asked for clothes and jewels Belle asked for a single rose So Belle’s father sets out one day And in the forest, he gets lost Found the Beast’s castle, and seeks refuge there But every gift comes with a cost For the next day, as he leaves He remembered what Belle said So instead of escaping like he should He picked a beautiful rose instead But now, the Beast was watching And came to him with a roar And with him brought the inventor More trouble than before Only on one condition Will the Beast set him free To bring a daughter in his place And the father sadly agrees So the inventor, with more riches Went back quietly on his way And Belle, blaming herself for her wish Said with the Beast, she will stay © 2020 Sarah |
