Beauty and the Beast: Prologue

Beauty and the Beast: Prologue

A Poem by Sarah
"

Another fairytale retelling!

"

I may not be the loudest

Of the voices that are said

But this tale is the largest

Of the stories that are read

It speaks of a kingdom

That no one here would know

For it existed in our minds

Destroyed so long ago

But I must say, here and now

Its legacy will forever last

For there is no tale better to tell

Than the stories of the past

There was a clever prince

With vile plans he could devise

But his cruelty went a step too far

And led to his demise

So one evening there was a party

To celebrate the coming of day

For their land has just been through winter

And they dance the cold away

But during this celebration

The prince made one mistake

For the prince knew the witch of the land

And didn’t let her partake

But being the powerful witch

And with anger, I suppose

She came to the party anyway

And offered a single rose

The prince laughed with scorn

And then everyone else there

Complete with delicate finery

They joined in without a care

And so the witch, shamed and angry

Silenced them with a curse

Cast a huge undying spell

Only true love can reverse

She turned the prince into a beast

And his friends into his slaves

And should the rose lose all its petals

They will be put into their graves

The witch laughed with contempt

For they’ll all die, at the least

Forever banished to be alone

For who would love a beast?
