HomelessnessA Poem by Dawn McKinney
Lying in the cold, dark night
Breath's fog fills the air Fingers become numb from the chills People walk by throwing trash Spitting and hollering I'm cold, I'm lost, I'm dying. Haven't found a cure for this I can't believe this world exists I shout for help as I find the way Homelessness I close my eyes and try to sleep I'm kept awake by anger's weak Don't take me now I'm not ready to go Give me yet another chance Haven't found a cure for this I can't believe this world exists I shout for help as I find a way Homelessness My mind is numb My head is empty My heart falls apart I feel so weak I'm losing touch With who I was before I can't believe it's come to this Haven't found a cure for this I can't believe this world exists I shout for help as I find the way Homelessness
