Golden Night

Golden Night

A Poem by Reese Applewood

 Merely a strange happening

Us crossing paths again

Cigarette in your right hand, you're a lefty

You have the grace to walk past pidgeons without them jumping

I was farther away then you thought I was

It wasn't that I missed you

I don't

For some reason it felt like you were watching me

All these years

I'm looking through you

Where did you go

I don't see you anywhere

It's like you're a ghost

Bad music, the work of the angel,

Good music, the work of the devil

Subtitles over things you can say

Filtering out your true feelings

I see you inside

I can understand the way you work.

You enjoyed inflicting pain upon poor souls

And

it

ends

now.
