CamouflageA Poem by David P. EckertAn unusual subject for me. How did we end up on an African Savannah? Beats me.
Camouflage Blending, crouching in parched grass its eyes narrowed muscles coiled the big cat waits. Zebras, their stripes pointing, weaving kaleidoscopic in misdirection gallop at full thunder as each life relies on speed and subterfuge. The cat uncoils, pursuit begun with great bounding strides eyes searching the stripes choosing the one shape for claws to launch and strike But eyes betray the hunter - his silent unseen wait to be repeated while striped evaders groups of moving camouflage have earned another day. © 2008 David P.
