Fairy DreamsA Poem by David P. EckertThings we've lost along the way
Fairy Dreams We can lose Things we’ve never had And never could, Like morning mist When faced with a summer day. Dreams and sacred fantasies That fuel us When demon work days Burn the last vapors From our souls Wishes to haunt And sing sweet tunes to us When unrequited family life Turns gray matter mush We scream and scream “Enough!” Letting go of fairy dreams May just implode our normalcy Force us to live untenably In bleak lives we’ve come to know And wish we could let go. © 2008 David P.
