Snow Wavers

Snow Wavers

A Poem by David P. Eckert
"

about winter, sin, adulthood, and maybe parenting, and of course snow.

"

Snow Wavers

Snow wavers its way to earth,

worrying at the trees and grass,

twigs, walks and roads it blankets

as if it hesitates,

afraid to hide some small truth

to be lost in the slush and melt.

There is beauty in the white quilt,

with its subtle blues and yellows

under the sun’s rays,

a respite from imperfection

of our stumbled lives,

our carelessness under cover

or even gone beneath the weather.

We need this white wet

powder of youth

to rest our eyes

release our squeezed shoulders

absolve our sins and hardships.

The snow will freeze,

turn translucent gray and melt;

our burdens will cling fast

to our stooped shoulders

dragging us slowly to earth.

There will be a season

we’ll not rise from the ground,

and we too will hide

beneath the wavering snow,

our burdens let go forever.

But for now we lift,

trudge forward under winter sun,

our feet cold and wet

seeking purchase

on the frozen land,

tired of our hard way forward,

determined to walk on

until our time is done.

Why didn't I seen those precious poems? You are such a heart; creating here those wonderful ephemeral images, a poem that seems to slow and becomes sort of static and the feeling is dream-like, especially here, "We need this white wet

powder of youth

to rest our eyes

release our squeezed shoulders

absolve our sins and hardships." ------this is such an untouchable image yet within dexterity to touch my soul. I will post this poem in my BIO section, for this is genuinely absorbing my perception.
