Don’t Bite The Future

 

Don’t bite the future.

It’s done nothing wrong

blameless like a new babe

born in the wrong place, wrong time

There’s no crime or cover-up

it could be sublime,

fantastic, wonderful to see

though the previews read

scarred for life

everyone who sees.

 

Don’t bite the future

it might bite back

with venom in its veins

or is that the venom sac

that stores up all the pain?

You can’t change the future

or is that the past?

When it’s set in stone

all that’s left you deal

and walk on alone.

 

Watch out for the future

It bites, leaves a scar,

just like the past

run away you won’t get far

Fear it fight it fail it

you won’t deny it

The future’s coming

past the hill to the right;

it’s gathering steam,

it’s fixed for a fight,

no matter you’re wrong

no matter you’re right.

I thought this poem brought in some pessimisim (sp) It's true, the past is what it is, the present is what you planned and came to be, but the future is just a dream. It's what we hope for, and we can't say if it will be negative or positive, it's what we've planted and faith in making our dreams come true. There is always the things we can't prevent or avoid but that is the future. Fortune tellers tell us all sorts of things, but really, are they ever right? They may say, on this day you'll wear a shirt that's blue, but hey I could say the same thing. Loved the poem, structure and wording and hopefully 09 will be the best year ever! I am wishing for you!!! Go Wandering SAGE!! ks
