Blood's Beat

Blood's Beat

A Poem by David P. Eckert
"

Whose in charge here? Listen, follow at your peril.

"

Blood’s Beat

Your darkness drips potential

Existential dreams in chilled rain

Arcane wisps round weather vanes

Lost hope flags not gone insane

Amid drama’s beat torrential.

Stillness hides inside your quilted blanket

Delirious you sank it

Aching in love you drank it

Thinking we should thank it

While jilted, stilted we cantank it.

Blood’s beat pounds delicious

In cool vapor and damp night

The pounding aching for a fight

Challenging our ideas of right

With passion grown outrageous.

You think your needs contagious

Worth our blind submission

No quaking indecision

Or party-poop derision

Just grab on to your genius.

But girl you’re not the answer

Blood lust is only cancer

You’re only spinning faster

Up highways to disaster

Grab hold, return we ask you.

It had to end somehow. Does this ending work or does it lose something?

Ah, a blood beat poet. :) I like it. A whirlwind of winding whirls. Good work.
