Morning Prayer

Morning Prayer

A Poem by David P. Eckert
"

self-explanatory

"

Morning Prayer

And there was light

The graying of black

As night conceives morning

Till purple, pink and orange

Melt the edges of sky

Fill lungs with fresh morning air

Your ears with sparrow song

As the sun warms your soul

In new day’s caress

Limbs stretch toward heaven

Rise thankful for morning dew

Puddles in the street

Snow blanket touching everything

Trees swaying in gusts of wind

Dropping leaves and twigs to the ground

Each day is opportunity

To recognize beauty

In a single breath

Embrace the light of day

No less the dark of night.
